Today was a nice relaxing day...well at least until the US soccer game.
We began our day at Killarney Park. We walked all around the park all morning. We saw an old Abbey and found all the nooks and cranies to it (it would have been a great place to play hide and seek). We also walked to the waterfalls there. It was one of the most gorgeous places, but with everything good comes the bad apparently because there were the most annoying gnats. We heard from an Irishman that these little white flies are called midges and that they bite. He was right!
Walking around this park was beautiful and we all decided if we lived here we would be in shape because it would be so nice to exercise at the park.
We got back from the park in time for the US soccer game. We were a little stressed at first because the pub that told us that they would play the game for us but most of the people in town wanted to watch the England game and we could tell we would be overruled. So, we found another pub. We had the whole place to ourselves and as the game went on it became filled with fans. We were surrounded by fans and it was an intense game...we didn't score the winning goal until the last 4 minutes of injury time. When we scored the place erupted! We jumped up and down screaming for at least 2 minutes! Paddy went around the bar giving everyone high fives. It was the best ending to a very stressful game. I think it made the win that much sweeter!
That evening I had my first boxty for dinner! It was very good and I am not sure I will find one that compares in the States.
WE loved this little town, but we are off to the next.
