June 11- Florence

Ponte Vecchio bridge

Today we went to the famous museum called the Uffizi. This houses tons of Renaissance art. The building itself was the old offices of the Medici family. You could see the special bridge they made for themselves to walk from their offices (Uffizi) to their castle. They made this bridge so they could walk above the common people so they wouldn't have to smell them. ;)

Sean and Sara's favorite art from Uffizi:
-Niobe's statues (In the ancient myth Niobe brags that she is better than Apollo and Artemis' mom because she has had 12 children while the other lady only had 2 children. Apollo and Artemis were not happy about this, and unfortunately for Niobe's children these two gods are great at archery. The two gods shot down all 12 of Niobe's children. In the Uffizi there is a big room full of different sculptures around the room of her children getting shot down. It was huge!)

- Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings, even the one that was unfinished!

-Rembrandt's self portrait.
