June 20b Dublin

We had a gorgeous day in Dublin. The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing lightly, and the temperatures were cool enough to be comfortable in jeans and a long sleeved shirt.

We used the tourist bus that takes you all around Dublin and stops at about 25 highlights of the town. You can hop on and off as you choose. We were able to get to St. Patrick's, Trinity College, and the Guinness Storehouse (Sean's favorite museum so far!).

St. Patrick's: choir singing, information on Jonathon Swift was eye opening in a good way, beautiful grounds.

Trinity College: We got to go in the old library that has over 200,000 of the oldest books. Too bad we weren't allowed to take pictures because it had such a grand feel to it. We also saw the Book of Kells.

Guinness Storehouse: lots of information on brewing (Jeremy we will give you the inside info we got!). The best part is you get a free Guinness at the Gravity Bar at the top of the building. It is a circular room that is all windows, so we had great views of the city. We even made some British friends.

We also walked around Temple Bar and enjoyed the pubs there. Oh, and I can't forget our favorite pub, O'Neills. It was 2 stories with different staircases every which way, tvs everywhere and bars in every room. Plus, it had home style food. We had one of our best meals there.

At night we went to Donoghue's Pub to hear Irish music. The crowd kept an eye on the Brazil game as the music played. I was watching the musicians play and one of the guitarists asked me to join in. It is a pretty funny story, but I bowed out as gracefully as I could because I really can't sing and am a bit shy when it comes to stuff like that.

Paddy and Chrissy are flying in on Monday and we are off to Galway. Sean's a little nervous about driving on the other side of the road.
