June 21 - From Dublin to Galway

Today is the day that Paddy and Chrissy join us in Ireland and we head west to Galway. Dad and I walked to pick up the VW van he rented and then we had to drive it back to the hotel. Driving on the "wrong side" is a bit weird. And, since we're in a big city, there are loads of one way streets. Needless to say, I was a bit stressed behind the wheel. We made it back to the hotel with me making only one wrong turn and maybe hitting a wall once... I say maybe because I have a hunch that I hit the wall of a parking structure bt there weren't any marks on the car or the structure so it's hard to say for sure.

Paddy and "Kathy with a K" - the name he gave to his GPS unit - are fantastic navigators. They do a GD good job and got us out of Dublin on some crazy side streets that kept us out of most of the traffic. We stopped in a little town called Athlone along the way and ate at another place called O'Neills. It was managed by a small Indian man, had an Asian cook, and Paddy ordered fish cakes that were like giant balls of tuna caserole. A little strange.

We stayed on Galway Bay which was crazy nice to look at. Very pretty. Mom, Sara, Chrissy and I went on a walk from our B&B around the bay and took a few pictures - can't upload them right now, sorry. Then we went off to O'Connells pub in the Salthill area for a pint. Since they don't serve food, we just drank and watched some World Cup soccer there before going to Lohan's for dinner and to finish watching the game.

Driving was odd. Galway was pretty. I like seafood chowder.
